General
While introduced decades back, the 85 is still one of EMG's best-sellers. Team up the little monster that is the EMG 85 with an EMG 81 and you have yourself a dreamteam of a loadout when it comes to heavier genres and playing styles. Even at the most extreme of gain settings, this humbucker keeps your riffs tight and articulate, which is exactly why it's become a staple of both the jazz and metal scenes. Because of its slightly milder output, the 85 has been set up for the neck position but works just as well in the bridge position.
Installing Your New EMG Pickup
EMG pickups come including everything needed to install them, so there are no nasty surprises during the mounting process. Even a set of 25k volume and tone potentiometers are included as standard, both specially tuned for active pickups and fully prepared for the EMG Quik-Connect system - which is conveniently 100% solder-free. Alongside the pickup and pots, you also get a solderless stereo output jack and a battery clip. See the EMG website for more info about how EMG's solderless system works.
Tips or comments about this product
Please note: Active pickup manufacturers use of their own solder-free systems. The EMG Quik-Connect system is not compatible with solder-free systems by other brands.
By adding the EMG pickup switch (sold separately. See Bundle deals), no soldering is required.
